The First Annual Golf Tournament of All Saints Anglican Church - pronounced a TRIUMPH

The first annual golf tournament for All Saints Anglican Church Algarve was held amidst clear, blue skies on May Day last week. The tournament had a staggering 76 players which included non-church and church members alike. They teed off at the new Vale da Pinta golf course at the Pestana Resort, Lagoa. The players were delighted with the beautiful and challenging course, and the winning teams even more delighted with the extravagant prizes. These included weekend get-aways at The Garbe Hotel in Armacào de Pera, The Eliott Hotel in Gibraltar, a head to toe massage provided by Salao Elysio of Vilamoura and many more prizes won in the grand finale raffle.

The tournament was organized and managed by Maurice and Margaret Walton of All Saints Anglican, and they were very pleased with the overwhelmingly positive response. "When we started to plan the Golf Day early in the New Year, we hoped for a good response, and bearing in mind this is our first year, I think we are off to a flying start. On behalf of All Saints Algarve I should like to thank everyone who played and all the folk in the background for their support and encouragement", commented Maurice.

Fr. Joseph Wingo, Lead Priest for All Saints who also took part in the tournament said "This was such a good day. Being new to the Algarve, it was a great opportunity for me to meet new folks and experience what brings so many people to this beautiful part of the world. I look forward to this becoming an established outreach event in the life of the Algarve. My thanks go to Maurice and Margaret, to Rui Gago, the management of the Vale da Pinta course and The Portugal News as co-sponsors for providing a truly fantastic day for all."
